True Change

In the last several years, many people now associate “change” as if it is something bad or negative.  The way “change” has transpired in our nation in recent years have created fear in many people as their minds try to process the concept and the heart expects a negative transition.

Conversely, change in itself can be good.  We all need change.  For example, it is good to change your clothes every day.  It is good to change your toothbrush every so often.  Moreover, if we want to increase in our positive experiences in life and have positive outcomes, we also need to change a few things, such as our thinking, for instance.

Most often we tend to think negatively about things and situations in life.  In my new book, Discovering Your God-Given Vision, (available on Amazon.com) I wrote an entire chapter on “change” where I describe the nature and importance of changing a few things in the event that our God-Given Vision is executed according to God’s will.  I wrote this because I realize the importance of self improvement, and the importance of Godly character in one’s life for the purpose of demonstrating Christ to our families and our society.

We’ve all been given a vision or a calling by God.  We are all here on planet earth with a purpose to fulfill God’s plan and have our input in His Kingdom.  Amazing, isn’t it!  But in order to accomplish this, a change in our minds is also necessary.

Change is not necessarily a change of direction, but it could be a simple adjustment.  Little adjustment after little adjustment will turn into a major change.  I can guarantee you than I am not the same person I was twenty years ago due to the small adjustments I’ve made in my life.

Here are six truths to successful personal change that are found in my book:  1. As you change your thinking, you change your believe system.  This means that your faith will increase.  2. As you change your belief system, you change your expectations.  It is important to understand that expectation is the breading-ground for miracles.  3. As you change your expectations, you change your attitude.  Remember that attitude is everything, and everything is attitude.   4. As you change you attitude you change your behavior.  5.  As you change your behavior, you change your performance.   6. As you change your performance, you change your life, thus changing your future.

I know that you knew most of these truths, but I thought I would be necessary to remind you of the reality and importance of your God-Given Vision and the importance of change in order to reach your destiny in God.  No matter how young or how old you may be, the truth of the matter is – we all need a constant change in our minds, and in our lives.

The greatest betrayal or the greatest threat is to be satisfied with who we are where we are.   Life’s positional satisfaction in most cases, in my opinion, is not often a sense of contentment but rather, the fear to change. Change is good!  The reality of our Christian walk is that as we pursue God or as we continue to get close to God in our relationship with Him, the more like Him we look or act or become.  This is a great example of true change.

Unbelievably Believable!

It is rather easy to believe the believable.  It is simple to believe in what is reliable.  It is also easy to trust what has been proven by human effort.  It is also simple to accept what is natural and carnal because that is the realm in which we live most of the time. But God lives, exists, and operates at a much higher standard.  Simple to us does not constitute faith and trust in the One who wants to be relied on.

Everything God asks us to believe is unbelievable in the natural.  Everything He wants us to receive is impossible in the natural realm.  In fact, from Genesis to Revelation, the entire Word of God, His promises, revelation, knowledge and even Christ’s birth, death, and resurrection are all unbelievable – in the natural.  It all goes beyond natural thinking.  It is all impossible and that’s why God calls us to have faith and trust Him.

We do not follow a religion, nor do we serve a religion.  We serve a real person, with a real passion, with real relevance who speaks a real word, has a real heart, real compassion and understands our real struggles as well as our joys in life.  His name is Jesus Christ, the son of the living God, the awaited Messiah, the King of kings and the Lord of lords.

Furthermore, we are not bound by natural, ordinary thinking because we have been changed and we are continually learning from an extraordinary God.  He is bigger than we can imagine and His Word is more powerful than we may ever be able to grasp.

God is an unbelievable and impossible working God.  He is the God of the unbelievable and the God of the impossible.  In other words, where you stop, He begins; where you end, He starts, where you can’t, He can, and where you might – He Will!

This is why the Bible calls us to have the type of faith that believes regardless of the outlook; a faith that receives regardless of the lack of possibilities; and a faith that believes despite the experiences or factual evidences of our lives.

We must understand that Faith trumps Facts.  Facts are always subject to change, but God’s Word will never change.   I don’t know about you, but I would much rather put my trust in something that is unchangeable, than on something that can be changed at the striking of a pen or by the opening of the mouth.

Jehovah God is believable because He has taken care of the unbelievable – making himself being unbelievably believable!   I encourage you to trust Him and believe Him like you never have before.  He is unbelievably faithful.

Make it a Great Believable Day!

Humbled Warrior

The town is quiet.  Everyone is frightened.  Once or twice a year the enemy comes to rob their people of their possessions that they have accumulated over a period of time.  A young man in town rigs up a plan to protect his crop from being stolen.  This young man became the town’s hero.

Today I was reminded of a story I have in my book, Discovering Your God-Given Vision, about a hero called: Gideon.  In the book of Judges, chapter six, we read that Gideon finds himself threshing wheat in a winepress to protect it from the Medianites (Israel’s enemies) who would steal it from the Israelites every harvest time.  Suddenly, an angel appeared to him and asked him to be the deliverer of his people.  He was to act upon his own name.  The meaning of his name was about to become his position – ‘valiant warrior’.

But his character did not quite match his name.  He could not believe the call.  He had no status in society and absolutely no help from anyone.  Furthermore, he possessed no extraordinary abilities.  Gideon was just an average man with a big name and a big God.  Oh and another thing, he had a call; a dream – a God-given vision.

The vision was to save God’s people from the bondage of the Midianites.  This was an impossible task to accomplish in one’s own strength.  After God confirmed the call or the vision, Gideon went through with the calling for his life and got the job done.  So what is God’s vision or call for your life?

When God gives us a vision, we often feel just like Gideon, don’t we?  We become excited about the call but fearful about the task at hand.  But just as God lead Gideon and directed his path, so is God overseeing and empowering you in your call.

During your vision pursuit, if you experience fear, then good!  If insecurities bombard your mind, then great!  You might think: “Are you crazy, Alex?” “You have told us before that fear is not of God” True, fear is not of God and no I’m not quite crazy either (though some may think otherwise). I may be out of my mind, but that’s because I’m in the mind of Christ.

Let me remind you that this is the place where God takes over.  No longer is it your own strength, but His power.  His “super” placed on your natural.  His strength in spite of your weaknesses.  Because when we are weak, He is made strong.

So go on!  Move forward in the power of His might.  Do not let the circumstances around you dictate your future.  Do not cheat or short-change those who could benefit from your vision.  Remember that God is on your side. You are a “Valiant Warrior” through the finished work of Christ.  God believers in the vision or call He has placed in your life.  Do you?
